Look familiar fellow Lisfrancers? 6 weeks, 5 days post op. Little swollen, a little purple, and bandaged where the K-wires were removed. No real pain, but feel very vulnerable without any covering....
Nucklehead - Yes! I am thrilled to have shaven off the 2 weeks. I was expecting end of September. One of my favorite events of the season is the Norwalk CT Boat show in mid-september. My only chance to climb on million dollar yachts! (I guy can fantasize I suppose) I would not be able to do so with the knee walker - so hoping I am "walking" in the rocker boot by then. Shower without the protection of the cast was a bit scary this am - but yes - was great to wash my leg finally! How are you doing?
I am doing OK. Progress for me has slowed. I can walk pretty comfortably with my MBTs and can probably keep up with normal walking pace. When I try to wear normal shoes, I am still favoring the bad foot. The metatarsal bone running down my big toe has been sore for a month now and I don't know why. Every pain is still scary to me, so I am taking it easy on the exercises. My doc is still confident and says its still very early on my recovery, even though its been a three and half months. Six months to a year really means six months to a year. I read in a report that it can take up to two years to feel "recovered".
I hear you - I totally get the every pain is scary thing. You wonder if your foot will ever feel normal. I woke up this am thinking to myself that it was amazing that after 7 weeks in a cast/boot that my foot still looks so raw and swollen. Any other body part/procedure short of open heart surgery it seems you would be up and about after such a long time - so three to six months is just nuts!
Congratulations. Getting two weeks shaved off NWB is priceless. Bathing your foot will be heavenly.
